Halloween

It was another great Halloween!

Jake wanted to be Dr. Who.  I am pretty nerdy, but I don't even know who he is, so...
Allie was a cheerleader with an official cheer outfit from our neighbor who is a really cute Sky View cheerleader!

Nate, in spite of having cuter costumes in the bin, chose to be Spiderman.  This costume has seen better days...
Jason was Rafael (or Raf, as he is now known).

These costumes inspired all sorts of before school shenanigans that resulted in a cheerleader and Spiderman running late to the bus.

I was able to see Allie in her classroom, and help with Nate's party.  Then, before we knew it, they were home from school and ready for the neighborhood parade.

Jake showed up just in time for some pictures, and then he was off to a party where he (along with 7 other boys) consumed more chips and salsa than anyone thought possible.  (I heard about that from my dentist the next week as I lay in a nitrous oxide stupor).

 Cute little cheerleaders!

The neighborhood is growing up and our crowd is shrinking.  In fact, there were more faces of people I didn't even know than ones that I did.

It was still pretty great.

Jason and Nate took off with friends after the parade and I didn't even catch up with them until they had finished our whole neighborhood.  It's crazy how old they all are!
When we did meet up, I took them down the canyon and they lasted until dark, when Nate suddenly realized that the only thing between him and the elements was one thin Spidey suit.  It just wasn't cutting it, so we called Daddy to the rescue.
This was their haul...

Allie also took off with friends, and even went up to another neighborhood to see what they had to offer.  She came home with a heavy bag and sore feet.  She worked for that candy.

It's hard not to be jealous of that pile of candy, but Jake really didn't feel too bad.  Allie shared with him and I thought that was pretty nice of her.

It was another great Halloween!  I love this time of year!

Spooky Dinner

I always have the best of intentions with my spooky dinner.  I research fun things to do and pin all sorts of things to my pinterest account.  Then, the day comes and I run out of time.  The kids are always impressed though.  I think as long as I get dry ice, the night will be complete for them.

 We had bones and blood...
 Some sort of grossness...
 Mummy dogs...
 Banana ghosts...
 Witch brooms...
 Frankenstein...
And a wormy brain...

 They were all pretty happy!

The Last Line of Defence

Grandma Johnson got Jason Astrobot for his birthday.  He already loved the thing, but when he found out that not only did Astrobot talk, but that he walked too...oh boy.
He told me "I could watch this thing for hours!"  And, he does.
I loved coming up the stairs to see the characters he had chosen to fight Astrobot.  They were getting picked off, one by one...

...I wish everyone could watch Jason play with his toys.  It's pretty great.

I don't even know who is good and who is bad.  I'll let Jason figure that out.

Surprise!

I turned 40 this year.  Mike decided to have a surprise party for me.  It was really sweet of him.  I went out to lunch with my mom and sister and came home to a party.
I was very surprised.

After the party, I put my mom and kids to work helping me plant the new tulips and daffodils that I bought for the spring.
We took the pictures of me and my mom and sister with my mom's camera, so I'll have to add those when I get them.  I am so grateful for my awesome family and for all those who came to wish me a happy birthday!

Pumpkins

Life is a dream for me in pumpkin land.  All I did was buy the pumpkins and cut around the tops.  The kids did all the rest.  I didn't even help Jason with his.  All of that is really nice when you aren't really a fan of pumpkin guts.

Jason made his into Frankenstein.

Nate just made a face on his.

I loved how he signed it...(Nate, Jason).
Mike helped more than I did, and it was still only just a few minutes.

Jake did some sort of Portal 2 thing.  I honestly have no idea what it's all about.

Allie did a Frankenstein one as well.

They might not be as skilled at cutting as some of the other people out there, but they did them all on their own.  That's great in my book.
