We went boating again and had a great time...now we are 2 for 4 on the good/bad scale. (In case you didn't read about the other trips, a dead battery and lots of wind and bushes were involved.)
This time we took the whole day to go and found an awesome lake. I guess I should clarify we didn't find it, plenty of people have been there before so we can't call it Lake Schwab or something cool, but we did go there for the first time.
The pro's
- It's way out of the way, so only a few other boats were out there
- The beach can be called a beach without these " "
- The water was really smooth when we pulled up
- It was also a healthy "water" color as opposed to the colors Newton Dam and Utah Lake turn this time of year. (for those of you who are confused, they turn gross shades of brown and green and the water tends to thicken as the summer goes on.)
I was really excited to find this place, and we had a great time.
Our neighbors got a new boat, and we all had fun riding on their big tube.
We saw plenty of people out there catching fish, but we didn't have any luck.
We wore both kids right out and they fell asleep in funny positions on the boat. How Jake could do that while we bounced around, I'll never know.
Things I learned for next time:
- Contrary to popular belief, one swimsuit and 4 diapers is not enough for my little Allie friend.
- When you don't re-apply sunscreen to the hard to reach areas of a very white back, you can end up with painful ramifications.
- Kids choose to need to poop at terrible times and places...bring a port-a-potty?
- Don't get frustrated that Allie cried the whole way home. It didn't mean she didn't have a good time while she was there.
