An obsession

Nate has an unhealthy obsession with all things with a motor in it.  I guess it isn't unhealthy.  There isn't anything wrong with it.  Mike loves that he can name different brands of motorcycles.  Anything green is a "saki" (Kawasaki) and anything blue is a "amaha" (Yamaha).  He recently learned that anything red is a Honda, but we don't have one of those so it isn't part of his every other word vocabulary.
I think that it's funny that he can identify the different sound of a motorcycle engine and anything else.  We'll hear one from inside the house and I say "is that a motorcycle?  Is that daddy?"  He listens and says "no...thas 4ler".  And he's always right.

Because of this obsession, this is how we find ourselves every day...

Jake and Allie take turns riding the motorcycle and dad takes the others on his motorcycle or the "4ler".

Nate is usually all bathed and clean and ready for bed.  He just needs his fix before he can settle in to sleep.
Unfortunately, one ride is never enough.  The minute the engine to the 4 wheeler is shut off, he is saying "how bout saki" and if he is lucky enough to get another ride on that, he says "how bout amaha?" when he arrives home from the saki ride.
Then, in the morning when I go to get him, he is already up and talking...
"Daddy?  Motorcycle?  Saki?  Ride up a hill?  Pop a wheelie? Vroom.  Derby car smash".
It never ends, and that's okay.

The other kids love it too.  Allie and I have started our hunt for caterpillars up the canyon and Jake is always begging to go find water.  The river isn't running in our neighborhood and you have to go way up the canyon to come to the one that is.  It's a sad thing for the boys who love the river.
Jason seems to love the rides, although he doesn't ask for them daily :).

We are so lucky to live where we live, and lucky to have a dad who loves toys.
