Laundry Day!

We've had a few snow days, but there was also a late start day and since Nate is in morning kindergarten, the late start means no school for him.  Between that, all the snow days, and then all the days the kindergartners got to skip for parent teacher conferences, Nate became very accustomed to staying home from school all day.  Since he gets himself dressed, he finds comfy pants and stays in them all day.  He likes that he can get his own snow clothes on and go out whenever he wants.  When people come to the door, he tells them that he is in his "no school" clothes.
Anyway, Jason has loved having his buddy home.  They play "cats and dogs" (lapping up water and snacks from bowls on the ground and barking and mewing so realistically that you'd think we had pets), Lego's, cars and trucks, take long showers with all sorts of toys, and help me with chores around the house.

This day, they were helping with laundry.  They begged for me to close the door and turn it on.  Sorry boys.  It seems like it would be fun, but it really wouldn't.

I know you're not supposed to let kids play with the tide pouches of laundry detergent, but it's their favorite thing to do.  They know not to eat them.  They fill up cups of water and watch as they start to dissolve.  As soon as I load all the clothes in the washer, they have to dump their brews in the washer, so they are always glad when I have to spend time sorting clothes and pre-treating stains.  That means they get more time to play with the detergent.
They are the best of buds and I am so glad when they get to play together.

Jason can be a bit of a turkey though and when they get into an argument, he tells Nate that he's never going to play with him again.  It breaks Nate's heart and he comes to me in tears worried that Jason will never be his friend again.  I always tell him to wait five minutes and Jason will forget all about his promise of "never again".  Sure enough, Nate will come back and happily proclaim that Jason has forgotten and they are playing again.  They are so lucky to have each other and I am so lucky to have them.  Life is good.
