Home!

We are home!  We went home on Saturday, but I am just now getting to these pictures.  Poor Jason is under the bilibed for his jaundice, but hopefully it won't be for long.  Allie is sad that her holding time is limited.  Anyway, here are some pictures from that first day home...

All the kids are in love.  We love this cute little snoozing boy.  More cuteness to come...

Jason Kay Schwab

The boy has a name.
We could not agree on a first name, but neither of us hate Jason.  So Jason it is.  Kay is my grandpa's name.  He was an amazing man and one that Jason can be proud to be named after.  Kay is also my mom and brother Warren's middle name...along with lots of cousins on my side.  So he can have lots of connections.  Naming kids is a tough business.  It's something they have to live with.  I hope he likes it.  As for pictures...here he is.  That first day, he was really looking like Nate.  Now, I am starting to think he might be a little more like Allie.  His hair is like hers as an infant for sure.  So here he is...Jason...

The kids were so cute with him.  Allie loves him and wanted to take him right home with her.
There we are!  Don't mind me...I hope I look better in a few days, but for now this will have to do.

Guess What!

Guess what I did today...
I had a new baby!
I really, really wanted an October baby, but I was trying to be okay with my November 5th c-section date.
Then, early this morning, my water broke.  Totally new experience for me.  I had to drag a neighbor out of bed to sit on our couch while we went to the hospital.  She was very kind about being rousted from her bed at 2:30 am.
My mom was kind about hopping in the car at the same crazy early hour.  She had worked an early morning shift at the temple the day before and then stayed up late.  She had no idea I'd be upsetting her sleeping plans.
For that matter, Mike was surprisingly kind about waking up a few short hours after falling asleep.  Everyone was so good.  I guess that's what "normal" labor and delivery is like.  I am used to having a calm and relaxing night's sleep before and having a bag packed...all the things that did not happen this time around.  I'm not complaining though.
We got to the hospital and waited around till people were ready to do the c-section.  Everything went well.  The baby had turned breech, so when they asked Mike if he wanted to peek over the drape and tell me the gender, he was surprised to see little legs sticking out of my belly instead of a whole body.  That's been a funny visual for me.
So, the fifth baby Schwab is a boy!  He is so cute.  He is a Schwab baby for sure.
He makes the cutest noises and has already captured my heart.
The kids came to meet him and everyone loved him right away.  Allie wanted to take him home with her instead of waiting the long few days that it will be.
Nate was just smiling and happy about things.  He touched the baby's feet and that's about it.
Jake was interested in inspecting him.  The soft spot on his head was a draw, as was the umbilical cord.
They all agree that he is so tiny and cute...and that we have been blessed beyond what we could have ever imagined.
We haven't completely settled on a name.  It might be Jason.  That's Jake's vote.  I had girl names picked out...what do you do?
He is amazing though, and all day, I have been envisioning these handsome missionary boys of mine with help from Sam as they serve the Lord in their lives.  I am one lucky momma.
I will post pictures when I get the cord to link my camera.  I even have a few other posts coming that I made last week.  Just thought I'd put it out there that we've welcomed another child of God into this world and into our family.

Picture time again!

Who takes family pictures when they're 9 months pregnant?  Me.
I was going to skip it this year and take them in December when we had our little baby Schwabby here with us.  Then we had such a beautiful fall.  There were days that went by and I was taking other people's family pictures thinking that I needed in all all this beauty.
Mine didn't work out that way.  We rushed through things and I never got a good one of Nate, but that's okay because these are really just fillers until the baby comes and we can take them again.
So, here are some of them...

I love this hill for these kind of pictures.

                                                          There we are!  Cheese!
I am very tempted to go back and get the kids again.  I'd love to get one of all of them looking good, but I am slowing down and getting lazy.  I think these will have to do.
Can you believe these kids?  Jake is almost 8 now, Allie is 6 and Nate is 18 months.  They all have pretty toothless smiles.  I keep wondering when Nate will get more teeth.  He still just has 4 on top and 2 on bottom.  He does well enough with the ones he has, but I can't help but think he'll be grateful for more chompers when he sees what they can do.
As for Allie and Jake, they are constantly showing me the things their toothless mouths can do.  Allie is fascinated by inspecting the apple after she takes a bite.  Jake's other front tooth is getting pretty wiggly, but he says he'll hang onto it for me.  They sure are cute kids.
I can't believe that in less than 2 weeks we'll add another to this brood.  Hope it's a cute one!

"Uh oh...mess"

I heard the crash and then "Uh oh!  Uh oh!  Mess".  I actually grabbed my camera on the way to see what had happened because I knew it would help me not be as angry when I saw what "mess" he was talking about.  Mike has been warning me that this plant stand (made by my grandpa) was too tall and wobbly to be safe with kids.  I thought we were fine because so far Nate hadn't messed with it.  I guess it only takes once.  Bummer.

Uh oh is right kid.

Pumpkin Patch

We took the kids to a pumpkin patch in Orem when we were there last.  We got to go with lots of cousins.  The kids had a great time.

They had a corn maze, a few blow up slides, a dark barn to walk through and look at light formations, and a little zoo type thing to walk through.  I have to say, the "zoo" was a bit of a bust.  Sure, Nate liked looking at the goats, sheep, bunnies and all the "doodle doo's" (chickens and roosters), but I was completely disgusted to see a pile of chickens pecking another poor chicken to death.  I hurried the kids through, but it didn't stop the questions from Allie as to why that chicken was bleeding.  Not to mention all the poop on our shoes...it was a bit gross.  How's that for a side note?
Anyway, I think the kids liked this part the best...

We let them stay as long as we could stand it and then went to pick out pumpkins.  They each got one that they liked and I picked out a white one for Sam.  I wanted to buy a big one for this baby in case it is born before Halloween and I need a big pumpkin for my naked baby in a pumpkin picture, but that would just taunt me on the front porch as I go day after day and into November...so we just left.

They have loved their pumpkins (especially Nate who has dropped his so many times that it's getting mushy).  We love this time of year!

Cousins

We got to go to Orem at the beginning of October.  My brother was visiting too and brought his daughter Taylor.  Allie was so excited to see her and then to find out they were missing the same tooth!  That was just too much.  These girls had a fun weekend playing together.  They are just 2 of the girls born in the same year on the Johnson side.  There are going to be teeth everywhere over the next few years!

Flag football

We made the mistake of signing Jake up for flag football this year.  I know it sounds terrible, and he really did have a good time, but it was just bad timing for us.  Jake loves the outdoors and we have had such a beautiful fall.  It was hard to pull him away from playing with his friends to go to games and practice.  It started when school started and Jake was feeling so picked on because he barely had enough time to have fun with Carson before it was time to come in.  Football infringed on both their free time because they were on different teams and played on different nights.  Next year will be better.

So, after that rant, here he is (the one with blue flags and denim shorts).

He only played defence, so he rarely touched the ball.  He made friends with all the kids he was blocking as the coaches were setting up plays though.  Sometimes they'd be so busy chatting that they'd forget to move when the ball was in play.  Once again, maybe next year will be different :)

He might be a good little football player though.  He likes it and he can throw well.  He also logs lots of time watching it with his dad.  They have been to a few Aggie games this year and he is a true Aggie fan in the making.
For now, it's over though.  Now he's free to roam around the neighborhood more...that is until the time change messes with everything...Sorry dude.

Bapple?

Every once in a while, I have to shower when Nate is awake.  I try not to because that's when he gets into trouble.  But sometimes he will wake up super early and it just can't be done.
That's what I was doing a few weeks ago.  I knew it was suspicious that he wasn't at the door begging to come in, so when I got out and heard "bapple? bite? Jake" I knew just where he was.
He loves to climb up on this table and look at the pictures.  Up until a few weeks ago, he was calling each one "Jake".  Now he says "Addie" and calls himself "baby".

Anyway, I had just bought some apples and bananas and he knew it.  So, he took the opportunity to taste each one while I was in the shower.

It's so gross...he bites right through the skin on a banana.  So I peeled this one for him.

Silly boy.  If he'd just eat one apple completely, I wouldn't mind.  Instead, this is what I get.
