Goodbye Backyard Trees

Mike set to work cutting down the trees in our backyard almost as soon as he tore down the play house.  The trees are box elders and we've had several tree guys tell us that they will be trouble a few years down the road.  They were right next to the house and we would have branches falling on our roof before too long.  The bids for cutting them down were pretty high, so Mike set to work to try and do as much as he could so it wouldn't be as expensive.

The kids were all put to work several nights in a row.

We hauled off load after load to the green waste dump.

Jake learned how to use a chain saw.

Jason climbed to the top of the ladder to supervise each day.
Nate was the best at sawing small branches off.
Allie was great at hauling them away and clipping off branches too.

Allie learned how to use the chain saw too.

By the time the tree guy came, each of the trees only had one big stalk left.

Nate loved watching them work.
It's strange to see the backyard without those two big trees.  I am a bit excited to think I might start getting raspberries again though now that the area won't be as shaded.  I love trees, but these ones had to go.  :(
