Aquarium

Like I said, the HP exhibit was a bit of a bust.  I loved it, but Allie was a bit underwhelmed.  So we went across the street to the Aquarium.  

We split up and let the older girlies go and see things on their own, so I mostly have pictures of the littles.  They loved it.

Mike has called penguins "pen-goo-ins" since the boys were little.  For a long time, whenever anyone would pronounce it correctly, the boys would say "you mean pen-goo-ins?" 
Today, Jason said "Mom, are these ones penguins or pen-goo-ins?"  He thinks they are two separate species.  We are terrible.

They loved the rain forest room where we saw giant spiders, turtles, snakes, butterflies, and a sloth.

They loved the electric eel zapper.

Even Grandma tried the zapper.

The otters were one of my favorite things to see.  You could see them from inside a little bubble room.

Nate liked touching the star fish and sting rays.

Jason was a bit too scared.

He decided to be brave and try it, but he couldn't reach.

Grandma tried to help him, but we missed every time.

The sharks were awesome.

After watching them for a while, we went in to see a movie.  It was about penguins.  Jason started to get really sad because after the penguins are hatched, the parents leave to hunt for food and leave their babies for 5 months.  The poor little penguin cried for his momma and Jason started to fidget.  He was almost as distressed as the little penguin as he clung to me and asked when the mom was going to come back.  I told him he should remember that next time he's nervous about me being gone for more than a few hours.

Nate told me that he wouldn't want to be a penguin baby "because they have to eat food that their parents throw up in their mouths."
I have to admit, that part was pretty gross.

It was a fun day and one we'll have to repeat sometime soon.
